Food Selections Can Increase Metabolism

Study after study shows that food selection accompanied with exercise demonstrates the best weight loss results. First you must learn a few key principles about choosing the right foods to get the best weight loss results.

Dieters usually take one singular approach to weight loss, seldom do they combine different sources for food choices. Food selections can increase metabolism when dieters understand that food selections are neither exclusively "low carb" or " low fat" or "vegan".

There is a division, a difference in theories that resonates the halls of weight loss research facilities around the world . Many experts claim that a calorie is a calorie and if you consume less calories than you expend you will lose weight, makes sense.

Other experts make a valid point when they argue that the body's internal mechanisms are a lot more complex than a simple theory of calories in should be less than calories out to lose weight. Their theory states that food selections can increase metabolism leading to faster more efficient weight reduction. This theory takes the focus off calorie intake and calorie expenditure and places the emphasis squarely on the shoulders of foods that activate the bodies metabolism.

Before you get to excited there is a little more too selecting foods that increase metabolism and weight loss. Knowing what food selections can increase metabolism also requires knowing when to eat them, and how much to eat. These are critical factors when optimizing your metabolisms fat burning mechanism.

For example carbohydrates such as breads, pasta,cereals, rice, potato's break down into sugars and raise blood sugars quickly. This sends a message to your body to stop burning fat and start storing it and burn off the excess sugar. In contrast slow digestive carbohydrates such as vegetables and fruit have a slow release of sugars and keep blood sugar levels constant. This is where the "calorie is a calorie" theory starts to develop some holes.

Take for example an apple fritter and a fruit smoothly, they both may contain the same calorie count but have a completely different effect on the body and weight loss. A calorie is definitely not a calorie in cases like I just mentioned. You can find many food selections that contradict the theory that a calorie is a calorie.

Different foods have varying effects on the bodies functions and metabolic rate. Focusing on lean proteins such as fish, lean cuts of beef pork, and skinless chicken should be the center of the plate. Surround lean protein with lots fruits and vegetables and dairy products to maximize your metabolisms fat burning attributes.
