Healthiest Veggies  -  Lose Baby Weight By Adding These Into Your Diet

After having a baby, many new moms worry about getting their pre-pregnancy bodies back. They may also wonder what is healthy to eat and what isn't, but we all know that vegetables are definitely healthy for you! Although all vegetables are healthy, and there are really no right or wrong ones to eat, we are going to discuss 5 of the healthiest veggies out there. They are all full of important vitamins and minerals that will help to keep you in good health, keep your energy levels up (all new moms need that!), and help you lose baby weight.

1. Red Cabbage (1 cup, raw):

Calories - 27

Fat - 0 grams

Fiber - 2 grams

Protein - 1 gram

Red cabbage is considered to be one of the healthiest veggies for several reasons. First off, it is very low in calories and cholesterol. It is also high in vitamins C, K and A, as well as potassium and manganese. It also contains good amounts of folate, iron and calcium, to name a few. It has great amounts of antioxidants, which may help to prevent some cancers. For health benefits, red cabbage is a better choice than green cabbage.

2. Carrots (1 cup, raw, chopped):

Calories - 51

Fat - 0 grams

Fiber - 4 grams

Protein - 1 gram

Carrots make the healthiest veggies list because they are not only low in calories, but they are a great source of fiber as well. They are also rich in vitamin A, a great source of vitamins K, C and B6, and contain good amounts of potassium and manganese. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, as well as several other antioxidants. They are also beneficial to eye health.

3. Eggplant (1 cup, raw):

Calories - 20

Fat - 0 grams

Fiber - 3 grams

Protein - 1 gram

This heart-healthy vegetable is a great candidate for the healthiest veggies list with its low calorie and low sodium content. It is also an excellent source of fiber, manganese and potassium, and a good source of folate and vitamins K and C. Eggplant is a good source of antioxidants as well.

4. Squash, summer (1 cup, raw):

Calories - 19

Fat - 0 grams

Fiber - 1 gram

Protein - 1 gram

Summer squash is one of the healthiest veggies for many reasons. First, it is very low in calories and sodium. It is also high in vitamins C, B6 and B2 and contains great amounts of antioxidants, many of them being in the skin of the squash. It is also a great source of manganese, potassium and folate.

Squash, winter (1 cup, raw):

Calories - 40

Fat - 0 grams

Fiber - 2 grams

Protein - 1 gram

Like summer squash, winter squash is low in calories and sodium. It is high in vitamins A and C and is a great source of manganese and potassium. It is also antioxidant rich.

5. Sweet Potatoes (1 cup, raw, chopped):

Calories - 115

Fat - 0 grams

Fiber - 4 grams

Protein - 2 grams

Sweet potatoes make the healthiest veggies list because they are rich in vitamins A and C as well as antioxidants. They also contain good amounts of manganese, potassium, vitamin B6 and fiber. Sweet potatoes also help to regulate blood sugar and are low in cholesterol.

These are all great vegetables to add to your grocery list as staples in your household. There are several others that also make the healthiest veggies list so mix it up and don't be afraid to try new ones as well as new recipes that include some that you've never tried before. Eating healthy and getting enough vegetables throughout your day is going to be essential for you to lose baby weight, combined with other healthy foods too of course.
