How to Get A Beach Body Mentality

So, this was the year you resolved to lose those extra pounds for good. January 1st came and went, along with February, March, April, and may. Now it’s June. But that does not mean you have to wait until next year to resolve to get in shape. If you start now, you can still obtain that beach body you’ve always wanted. The first thing you need to do is get in a beach body mindset. Contrary to what you expect, that does not mean crash dieting. It simply means, get moving and make small changes.

While this may not be the summer you get to show off that bikini you wore in college, it can be the summer that gets you there. Realize that losing weight is a journey, and it can be a long one. But, if you change your way of thinking, and get a beach body mentality for life, your new body will last.

How to get a beach body mentality: first goes the butter, then the bagel A good friend, we’ll call Dana, once said: Before I ever even thought about cutting out the bad carbs, I stopped putting butter on my bagel.

This anecdote, is a metaphor for change one thing at a time. It can be the simplest thing. Break one bad habit every few weeks. If you go to the ice cream truck daily, try to skip a day, or get a fruit popsicle instead. Or, limit your consumption of starch to before 7pm. After that, you can eat—but no bread, potatoes or chips. See? If you make slow changes, they’ll last. And you won’t feel deprived.

How to get a beach body mentality: Add ten minutes of movement to your day If the idea of working out everyday for one hour makes you sweat, start with ten minutes a day of exercise that gets your heart rate up. This means, that for ten minutes, while you’re moving, you should have difficulty holding a conversation, and most likely break a sweat.

Take the stairs to the top of your building to the bottom on your lunch break. If you have Netflix, do one of the 10 Minute Solution workouts (love em’). I bet it won’t be long before you’re doing even more. Also, if you do three 10 minute mini workouts a day, it’s just as good as if you did 30 consecutive minutes. Get moving!

How to get a beach body mentality: Reward yourself You are fabulous, and deserve rewards for everything you accomplish. Just don’t make it food. Have you exercised for 10 minutes every day for the last three days? Have you cut out ice cream and switched to fat free yogurt? Reward yourself with a gift. It could be new workout clothes, hot summer sandals or even a trip to the spa.

How to get a beach body mentality: Love what your body does Your body is a temple. It’s also a transportation and IT system. Your body allows you to experience pleasure and is the reason you’re reading this right now. Focus on the good things about you every day, and before you know it, the beach body mentality will show through in the flesh!
