How To Get Thin Why You Have Been Scammed

Have you been told that dieting is how to get thin? Have you been told to go to the gym and work out until exhaustion? I bought into all of that for eighteen years of my life too. I dieted and went to the gym. I lost weight and put it back on so many times. Then I found out that studies prove doing theses things don't work. I had been scammed. I was shocked and dismayed. The media had been telling me lies all my life.

A study as far back as nineteen seventy one questioned the value of going on diets. This study suggested that diets were not how to get thin but that making small changes over the long term was much more effective. Further scientific studies throughout the 1980's and 1990's showed that dieting creates eating disorders in many people. Such as food addictions, bingeing and emotional eating. These studies found no evidence in support of dieting. They found that eating for good health had a far higher success rate.

The success rate of diets in the short term is around five percent. After a year that drops to only one percent. Only one percent of people actually succeed. Doesn't that tell us something? despite these figures there is a booming multi billion dollar diet industry. Offering up magical cures for people's weight problems. How lucky for them that their solutions only create more problems and therefore more customers.

The effectiveness of going to the gym is about the same. It is such a chore for people that only about one percent of people persist in the long term. In principle it may be a good idea but with our busy lives and stresses it is neither a practical nor a bearable solution. There are other far easier and more effective ways.

It is rather typical of our supposedly advanced modern thinking to treat the symptom of a problem rather than to look for a cure. Medicine does it, cosmetics do it, governments do it. It is the applauded way in our 'modern' yet very backward societies. We treat everything in such a superficial way. Magazines, news and television is packed full of superficiality. The news is of course distorted in the favor of whoever writes it. And the papers and magazines give more weight to fashion and sport than to real issues.

Who can blame them. They are just giving people what they want. People love the superficial. People don't want to deal with realities. Candy coated sound bites is their daily fodder. So when an industry offers up an 'easy way' out of a weight problem people (including me) rush in their droves to buy it. People don't want to hear that what would be best for them is to change the way they do things for good. People don't want to hear that making changes for the long term and gradually losing their weight is how to get thin.

No they want a quick fix, patch work job that goes nowhere near the root of the problem. The diet industry is quite happy to keep up the illusion as it profits them by billions of dollars every year. The media is not biting off the hand that feeds it as huge advertising revenue is gained from the diet industry. It is a wonderful collusion that suits the media and diet industry right down to the ground.

However this partnership does nothing to truly solve people's problems. All it does is generate billions of dollars under completely false pretenses and creates more and more problems for people along the way.

Thank fully there are many people and companies out there waking up to these facts and starting to offer long term solutions to people's problems. Weight management is becoming a buzz term these days. People understand this is the way to get thin and stay thin rather than dieting. It is in fact the only way. Forgetting about weight and focusing on health is how to get thin and stay thin.

Throw out all ideas of dieting or dieting gimmicks and you can start to get somewhere. Eating for good health is how to get thin. Not only is it how to get thin it is the way to a happier and healthier life free from media hyped lies and diet scams.
