Everyday more and more people say to themselves "I want to lose weight now". That's a good start. The thing is that there is a problem which many people don't know, and can make a difference at the time of taking up a new diet. It's something that you learned in high school, and most surely you know right now, but didn't paid enough attention. I repeat, it's something very important and everybody who wants to lose weight should pay attention to. What I'm talking about in here is what is called Water Weight.

Yes, water weight. Do you remember back in high school when your biology teacher taught you that water represents up to 70% of your body weight? Well, that's what I'm talking about. Doesn't matter what kind of diet you choose to take over, if you are retaining fluids, there's no easy way of cutting your extra pounds quickly.

Now that you know this, it's time to lose water weight right now. But as you might guess, if you want to lose water weight, then you can't start with a common diet. In fact, your diet might be the cause of your water retention. Among the factors that contribute to your water retention, there is salt, sugar, inadequate intake of protein, amino acids or B-vitamins. If you tend to accumulate excess fluids, you should visit your doctor to learn the cause.

There are lots of natural foods and herbs which have properties that will help you lose water weight (even though you should still be careful). So if you take up immediately some of these foods I'm going to give you, then you'll start losing water weight pretty quickly. Among this diuretic herbs, you have:

  • Fennel
  • Cranberry juice
  • Parsley
  • Green Tea

Also, eating diuretic foods, as mentioned before, can help you lose water weight rapidly. These high water foods, are another way to help your body increase the elimination of excess fluid retention. These foods would include things like:

  • Watermelon
  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Carrots
  • Asparagus

If you want to make your diet more interesting, add garlic to your foods. It helps your metabolism to break down the fat much better and also helps it to eliminate the water retention.

There are also some beverages that might help you lose water weight, including tea and coffee. But be careful, there are some studies that show connections between caffeine and weight gain.

In conclusion, this article makes obvious that there isn't much attention given to the water retention problems. And let me tell you that with my experience, this is an important topic. If you're having weight retention problems, don't doubt to go to a doctor ASAP. Even more, this may be one of the biggest reasons why you're not losing weight. Remember, avoid sugary food, avoid salt and high sodium foods, include the foods and herbs listed above, eat fruits and vegetables, and exercise daily.
