Have you been trying to lose weight? Many people want to drop a few pounds so that they will feel better, look better, and be able to wear flattering clothing. There are a number of ways to accomplish your goal.

One way to lose weight is to cut back on the junk food. Donuts and other sugary pastries taste really good and go very well with a cup of coffee. However, they tend to cause people to pack on the pounds. If you would like to lose weight and you are trying to decide between a donut or a bagel, go for the bagel. It is definitely the healthier choice. Add on a tasty topping like cream cheese or peanut butter, and you will have a nutritious meal that will keep you going and will allow you to get your work done. If you are a student, you will have a productive study session. If you are preparing for a speech, you will have the energy to practice and prepare until you are confident that your presentation is the best that it can be.

A second way to lose weight is to drink water. Often, when you think that you are hungry, you are actually experiencing thirst. Drink some water. If you feel full after that, you were thirsty. If, after drinking the water, you still want something to eat, choose something healthy, like an apple. An apple contains fewer calories than a donut, and it will still leave you feeling satisfied.

A third way to lose weight is to begin an exercise program. Pick a form of exercise that you enjoy, and do it regularly. Regular exercise, in addition to helping you lose weight, will also help you to manage your stress. When you can manage your stress, you will sleep better and feel better.

Another way to lose weight is to keep a food diary. In a small notebook, keep track of the food you eat. In the notebook, you might also add what was going on at the time that made you want to eat the food you ate. Were you nervous or bored? Record everything you eat for an entire week. At the end of the week, look at your food diary. Do you see any patterns, such as frequently turning to high-calorie foods right before or right after a stressful event? Consider finding a replacement for these foods. You might go running or listen to music, for example.

By adopting some healthy habits, you should begin losing weight. By losing weight, you will be able to enjoy a happier, healthier, and more confident you.
