Tips For Losing Weight – The Importance Of Water

So you are looking for tips for losing weight? Probably you have already read that you should drink a lot of water. But why exactly is this? Well first let me state that drinking a lot of water is always good for you. Not only if you are losing weight. The human body contains between 55% and 78% water, depending on the size of your body. That is a lot, so just common sense tells us that drinking water is good for us. So why is it always mentioned in the tips for losing weight lists?

So the body contains on average about 65% of water. When you don’t supply it with the water it so clearly needs, the body goes into survival mode. It stores all the water it can because the intake is scarce and irregular. An excess of water is stored just to be on the safe side and this will show in your figure. You think it is all fat that determines the shape of your body? Well think again. Water is also to blame. Start giving your body water on a regular basis and give it plenty of it, about 8 glasses a day. Your body reacts by getting rid of the water it was holding onto in your hips, thighs, ankles and belly. As soon as your body trusts you to supply enough water it stops storing it for later use.

When your body is well hydrated it is happy and your muscles and organs work more efficiently and quickly. You feel fitter and have more energy, your metabolic rate increases helping the burn off some calories. Your metabolism is very important and trying to increase it is one of the most common tips for losing weight. For the human body it is difficult to “know” the difference between hunger and thirst. So you might mistakenly think you are hungry while instead you are thirsty. This leads to more food consumption then necessary and you will gain weight. So drink water regular to decrease that hungry feeling and eat less during the day. It is also a good habit to drink a glass of water 15 minutes before dinner. It takes the edge of your hunger and you are less likely to overeat.

I actually good have stopped writing after: “The human body contains between 55% and 78% water”. This along should convince anybody that water is good for you and you should drink plenty of it. I just elaborated a bit more why it is always mentioned in tips for losing weight lists. Most of those lists have valid tips but I strongly believe that just following some tips is not enough. I have a slightly different vision about weight loss tips.
