One of the biggest questions you find in the internet on weight loss is “how do I lose my belly fat? ” When you see what they have tried, you read about the 100 daily sit-ups, excessive cutting of calories, hours of intense running exercise, hard cardio workouts, fat belly burners, etc.

If you can’t lose your belly fat, you’re using the wrong approach. You don’t need endless sit-ups, food supplements, starving yourself or worse still surgery. Here are the 10 best ways to lose your belly fat – naturally and easily.

1. Stop doing crunches. Health experts have shown that spot reduction exercises does not work. Doing crunches and sit-ups only serves to strengthen your stomach muscles but it won’t burn belly fat. You’re wasting your time and effort doing 100 sit-ups or crunches per day. To lose belly fat, you need more than that. Keep reading.

2. Eat less carbohydrates. You need carbohydrates for energy. Problem is if you eat more carbohydrates than what your body needs, the extras are kept as body fat. And that is how you develop belly fat. For an Asian like myself, the most effective way is to eat less rice. Rice have more carbohydrates than potatoes.

3. Eat more protein. Research have clarified that consumption of protein helps burn fat. It is because protein have been found to cause a healthy working metabolism in the body. A healthy working metabolism will lead to the body fat burning at a faster rate. A meal in high-protein can increase the metabolic rate up 30% which is the same as doing a three to five miles jog.

4. Reduce alcohol intake. What you drink is important as what you eat to the body. Drinking alcohol from time to time is OK but if you drink beer and alcohol daily, you can forget about losing the belly fat. So, lower your alcohol intake to 10% of the time.

5. Eat smaller meal sizes. Many people make the mistake of avoiding food to lose belly fat when in fact they should eat more. When you stop taking food, your body is starving and you are lacking vital nutrients. The trick is to eat everything but to eat in smaller meal sizes. For example, if you usually take a plate of rice for lunch, don’t avoid it altogether but cut it by half.

6. Drink more water. Water has zero calories. Drink more water instead of a soft drink when you are thirsty. You can save 1,400 calories in a week, 21 pounds in a year, just by drinking water instead of a sweet soft drink, according to nutrition experts from the University of North Caroline.

7. Eat the right fats. Eating moderate amount of fat actually helps in fat loss. Your body need not store so much fat if you already supplying it with fats. The key is to eat the right kind of fats – saturated and trans fats are unhealthy fats while unsaturated fats are the healthy fats.

8. Lower your body fat. You’ll need to lower your body fat to lose belly fat. Do some strength training, add cardio workouts and eat a healthy diet.

9. Eat healthy. Stop eating a lot of junk food, fast food or processed food. Eat less fried food and more steam food. Don’t skip your 3 meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Eat a balanced meal filled with proteins, vegetables, fruits, fats and carbohydrates.

10. Develop a healthy lifestyle. Make permanent changes to how you live your life. Stop unhealthy bad habits like smoking, drinking too much booze, get 8 hours of sleep daily, exercise often and eat a healthy diet.
