It is possible to lose weight without starving or even going on a diet. All you have to do is change the way you eat as well as the type of foods you consume. But do yourself a favor and don't call this a new diet as otherwise you will immediately feel deprived. We all have an instinctive negative reaction to the word “diet” probably as a result of all the faddy diets that have failed to help us lose weight over the years.
So instead try these tips to losing weight and look forward to the new you:
- Start every morning with a drink of warm water and fresh lemon juice as this helps to kick start your liver. An efficient liver will help to flush out excess fats and toxins from your body.
- Follow this drink with a bowl of oatmeal porridge made with water or skimmed milk. Oats are a great start to the day as they slowly release energy but they also help keep your mood stable. If you cant face porridge, try some grapefruit followed by whole grain toast. You don't want to eat white bread, pasta or rice when you are trying to lose weight.
- For your mid morning snack have some nuts and seeds to help keep your omega 3 and 6 levels healthy. Your body needs good fats and provided you don't over do it, they won't add to your waistline.
- For lunch have a little good quality protein such as turkey breast or white fish. Oily fish such as tuna, mackerel or salmon is a good alternative but make sure it is baked not fried.
- Dinner can be more of the same. Some people suggest you eat carbohydrates in the early part of the day to give you a chance to burn off the energy they produce. As you probably know the body stores excess energy as fat which is the opposite of what we want to achieve.
- Eat as many fruit and vegetables as you want, the more the better. If you eat them close to their natural form you will burn calories when your body is digesting them so think lightly steamed rather than juiced.
If you need some support why not join a fitness bootcamp where there will be other people in a similar situation all trying to lose weight and get fit.
If you hate the idea of doing sit ups or other military style exercises, you can find bootcamps centered around dance moves. The Zumba bootcamps are a particularly good workout and you will have great fun while you are losing the excess pounds.
Nobody is saying you need a lifetime fitness bootcamp membership although you may just find that once you go you never want to leave.
