Being overweight is one of America’s biggest problems. This is literally a growing problem, no pun intended, not only for adults, but also for our children. Too much time is spent at the computer, and watching the television, instead of outside doing something active.

Weight loss is something we should all be concerned with. Whether you have the problem, or know someone that is over weight. For me it’s personal, I have been overweight for over 35 years and have tried just about everything. I can lose the weight, only to gain it all back again, and sometimes even more. It’s definitely an up and down, or yoyo syndrome.

I found out, the hard way of course, that it’s not so much what I eat, or how much, but the activity I do each day that makes a difference. I started out by walking a little each day, mainly because that was all I could do at that time. I was 100 lbs over weight when I started moving my body.

As time went on I was able to increase my walking time until I gradually built up to 45 minuets a day. I started walking on a tread mill, and then moved outside. Which I must say I enjoy so much better. I choose a different place to walk each day, like the park one day, around my neighborhood another day, at the mall another time, even the parking lot of a shopping center. It gives me a variety of things to see, and that helped to keep me interested.

I found out a long time ago if I don’t stay interested, I lose focus real fast. So changing locations to hold my interest was really important to me. I’m sure it’s probably different for everyone, but if you’re like me, you should give it a try, I guarantee it worked for me.

It’s been a year now since I started my weight loss program. That time went by so fast I can hardly believe it, but guess what happened? I’ve lost 54 lbs. that’s over half of my goal, and the weight loss was easier than I ever dreamed. I want you to know I didn’t change my eating habits by much, accept I don’t have all the cravings I used to, and I seem to eat less at each meal. I don’t eat sugar and I gave up sodas and junk food, because the cravings were gone. I know the walking has changed my life for the better, and it’s such a small thing to do to feel and look so much better, not to meantion the health factor.
