Okay, let me be honest. I am a super lazy individual. Now, of course, I have some things going for me, but for the most part, I am “muy peligrosa” (have fun searching that upÂÂ).
As a child, I never understood why drinking water was so important. I mean, it’s a liquid that literally has no taste. Like seriously, have you ever heard someone describe water? The only true adjective you could come up with is water, and that doesn’t count!
I wouldn’t call water tasteless exactly, but as a child I would much rather drink a box of juice. I didn’t understand what water would do for me. My mother would always tell me that if I didn’t drink my sippie cup full of water, I was going to, in simpler terms, die. Of course that little insight made me chug it down fast.
Now that I’m a bit older, I understand that water has more benefits than just keeping one alive. And even though that will remain its primary job, water also does a substantial amount of other things. Some may even surprise you! I know it surprised me.
Helps Get Rid of the Dirty Stuff (you know what I’m talking about)
We all know our bodies contain waste. We also know that a bunch of different chemical processes take place in our body to help it function normally. Imagine if you suddenly weren't able to go to the bathroom and had to keep all of that gunk in your system? You would end up feeling like poop in no time. Not surprising because you are what you eat!
Keeps Your Body at a Normal Temperature
Without water, your body would be unable to sweat. And although you may think that is a wonderful thing (you’re probably imagining all the money you’d save if you didn't have to buy so many sticks of deodorant each year), it would actually mean living a very scary life. If you were in a hot climate, you could potentially over heat and die. Deodorant seems like a good idea now, doesn't it?
Helps You Lose Weight
You hear this constantly: “Drink 8 glasses a day and watch the pounds flush away”…or at least something to that effect. There is truth in this statement. The more water you drink, the more you will urinate. By drinking eight glasses of water, your digestive system will clear quicker and in turn, you will lose a bunch of water weight. Not only that, but you will also experience less hunger pains. In any case, one should always incorporate drinking eight glasses of water into their weight loss goal, it will only benefit you in the end.
Water is one of nature’s greatest gifts, and nature intended you to use it. So take advantage of it. After all, it is free! Maybe the next time you're out to celebrate your success, you will drink to water instead!
