Fruits are extremely healthy; the benefits cannot be over emphasized. They are filled with vitamins, antioxidants, nutrients, fiber and water. How then do you eat the fruits so as to realize the full benefits?

Fruits are supposed to be taken on an empty stomach, avoid eating your fruits after a meals.

Why eat fruits on an empty stomach.

Eating fruits before meals or in between meals is recommended as by doing so all the nutrients, the fiber and simple sugars are processed well in the body because digestion occurs quite fast as different enzymes are used by the body for digestion. Fruits contain simple sugars, which need time to be completely absorbed by the body. This ensures that you have benefitted optimally from the consumption of the fruit. Some of these benefits include; more energy, clear skin, good health and maintaining normal weight. Eating fruits on an empty stomach will play a major role in detoxifying your body, thus giving you the much needed energy as well as help with weight loss and other benefits.

If fruits are taken after food they will take longer to be digested as they will be put in the ‘queue’ waiting for what was consumed first to be digested and you may end up not realizing maximum benefits from them. Other people argue that when fruits are consumed after food and they come into contact with the food in the stomach and the digestive juices, the whole pile of food begins to go bad, when this happens you can experience bloating and other related issues.

Another best time to eat fruits is before or after a workout. The sugars from the fruits will be used by the body for energy before workout and will also help in returning the lost energy in the body after workout.

Fruits being among the most important foods should be eaten raw, don’t cook them, as this will make then lose nutrients and all vitamins which are beneficial to your body. When fruits are eaten before food they are quickly absorbed in the system and benefits realized. You can also juice your fresh fruits or make smoothies. Avoid eating or drinking juices from cans or packed bottles as this have additives.

Always remember, eating a whole fruit is the best, but also drinking fruit smoothie is a good idea. Avoid juicing as it removes the skin of the fruit, which contains loads of nutrients, in addition to the skin, which is an important source of fiber in most fruits, the pulpy part of the fruit is also a source of fiber and other important nutrients. Therefore, avoid juicing if you can as much fiber is lost in the process of juicing. If you must drink the juice drink it slowly to allow it mix with saliva before swallowing as the digestion starts from the mouth.

Important: Avoid eating fruits late in the evening or at night close to bedtime moreso if you are considering losing or maintaining your weight. This is because fruits have simple sugars-fructose, which is quickly converted to glucose thus the body sending indicators to pancreas to release insulin so as to help store the extra glucose, which is stored in form of fat. Again, remember to eat any foods roughly 3 hours before bed time.
