Add Glamour to Your Vehicle With Mobile Window Tinting

Getting windows tinted on a vehicle, or in the home, is very fashionable right now, and there are a large number of people in the Queensland are that have had this work done successfully. Window tinting a car is perhaps the most common way of protecting passengers from excessive sunlight, but it has to be done correctly in order to ensure that it is not outside of the law. There are several ways that you can ensure that your vehicle shading is legal, including employing a mobile window tinting team who already understand the rules concerning shading levels in Queensland.

The laws throughout Australia

While individual levels of shading for vehicles may be set at State and Territory levels, all Australian governments have a specific requirement for the maximum level of shade provided by window tinting. Also known as Visible Light Transmission or VLT levels, there are certain parts of the law which cover all states. For example, the VLT on all windows excepting the windscreen at the front of the vehicles is set at 35%. Only NT, which has a minimum VLT of 16% for any windows directly behind the driver, and WT, which limits 20% VLT on those windows, has different laws. However, the exact laws regarding applying window tinting to an existing vehicle can be very different, and you should know more about Queensland's rules before ordering any window tint.

Queensland and window tinting law

Perhaps the most important part of QD legislation relating to applying fresh car window tinting on the Gold Coast relates to the law which states that no objects or materials which interfere with a driver's vision are to be placed on the windscreen or windows which might compromise the driver's vision. In addition, reflective window film of more than 10% cannot be added to any window. When it comes to adding tint, Australian Design Rules now mean that privacy glass may be added to windows behind the driver's vision (ie, rear passenger doors). Tinting may be added to the windscreen, but only the portion which is not touched by the original wiper blades, or more than 10% of the windscreen. That tinting may be of any VLT. For other windows, there is a VLT of only 35%. For new vehicles, which may already have tint, any added film must not make the window darker than 35%.
