Popular Pinot Grigio Labels For 2013

Pinot Grigio brands are one of the most popular varieties of wine. Recent statistics indicate that more than 17.35 million bottles of the white wine were sold in a three month period in the United States. It is also the most popular wine imported by the United States accounting for 12 percent of all wine imports last year. The Lombardy and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions of Italy are the largest producers of this wine in the world. The wine is also known as Pinot Gris. It is also produced in France, Austria and United States, especially in Oregon and California. The wines vary significantly in taste. They traditionally have a light, clean and fruity flavor. Their color varies from pale gold to pinkish white.

Most Pinot Grigio brands offer a fresh and refreshing taste. It should be consumed within two years of vintage. It works well with chicken and seafood. Serve at about 48 degrees Fahrenheit. This is warmer than the regular refrigerator temperature. Avoid serving this white wine with acidic foods such as tomato.

The beverage has two different styles. The light-bodies version is light and crisp with fruity flavor. The medium-bodied version is crisp with more complex fruit flavors. Popular flavors include pear, apple, lemon and mineral. The wine is reasonably priced and most brands are readily available across the United States. However, the price of the bottles may vary significantly due to high mark ups.
