The Vinturi wine aerator is a great way to aerate your wine in almost no time at all. This little device is used by many people in the wine industry and by many lovers of wine all over the world. In the time that it takes to literally pour a glass of wine the Vinturi has you wine completely aerated.
It works by displacing the wine and making it travel faster through the chamber of the Vinturi mechanism. At the same time as the wine travels fast the pressure is reduced and a small vacuum is created. This vacuum sucks air in through two small holes that are located on opposing sides of the device itself.
The Vinturi comes in both a red wine version and also a white wine version. Each of these versions is different and should be used only with the wine that it corresponds with. The reason for this is that the structure and make up of red wine and white wine are different and even though it is possible to use a Vinturi red wine aerator with a white wine it will not benefit as much as it could have if you used the correct aerator. While most wines or the majority of wines rather, will benefit from aerating there are a few wines that benefit more than others. These wines that benefit more are the wines that are higher in tannins or have a heavier structure.
Before wine aerators we used to use decanters or carafes to aerate wine. Basically all aerating wine is getting some oxygen into it to open up the flavors and bring out the aromas a bit more. Aerating wine is actually the first step of the oxidization process and this is when air gets into the wine and acts as a catalyst for the chemical reactions that are happening inside the wine. It is very important to store your wine somewhere and in a way that it is safe from air and oxygen.
Many people in the wine industry use the Vinturi wine aerator to aerate their wine, as it is a fast and easy way to do so. The Vinturi wine aerator is small enough to carry around with you and can easily fit in your jacket pocket or a bag. The Vinturi travel comes with a nice hard metal case and is a little thinner than the other ones. Either way having a wine aerator is a great way to get your wine to open up without having to wait for an hour or two.
