Vinturi Wine Aerator - Your Aerating Friend

Having a vinturi wine aerator can mean all the difference when you go to a wine tasting or on a winery tour. The Vinturi is a small device that is easy enough to put in your pocket or bag and take with you wherever you go. It has become increasingly popular over the last few years and although there a few fakes on the market that have been distributed by a Chinese company the original still holds its spot among some if the most effective ways to aerate wine.

The Vinturi wine aerator works by sucking in quite a substantial amount of air and mixing it with your wine to aerate your wine properly. It does this by sucking in air through two small holes on each side of the Vinturi and this happens due to a small vacuum that is taking place while the wine is being poured. This vacuum occurs because the wine that is poured into the vinturi moves faster through the Vinturi and also has less pressure on it than when it is poured from the bottle.

Airing your wine is quite important as it brings out a whole new range of flavors and bouquets that you would usually have to wait at least an hour to come out if you were to decanter the wine yourself. A decanter is very good for expensive wines especially if you are having guests over or holding a dinner party. Of course many restaurants will still use a decanter, as they look good and add to the expense of your meal, but the problem with decanting your wine is that you have to wait for the wine to breathe.

Some wines require more air or benefit more form aerating than other wines and these are often the larger style reds like cabernets and Shiraz. Also the younger wines will benefit a lot more from breathing than older wines. Anything with a lot of tannins or that is big in structure will benefit from a bit of air and a vinturi wine aerator can aerate your wine almost instantly.

Actually in the time it takes for you to pour wine through the Vinturi wine aerator and into your glass- this is the amount of time needed to aerate your wine. There are lots of places that are now using these aerators as they are faster than using a decanter and also very easy to use and maintain. They are made from 100% acrylic so all you have to do is throw them in the dishwasher and away you go. Enjoy.
