Wine cooler reviews are a good way of researching what wine fridges or wine coolers are available on the market. If you are a wine drinker or a wine collector or both you have more than likely thought about getting a wine cooler at some stage. However there are several things that you may want to think about before you actual spend money on one. How many bottles you want to keep and if you want to keep both red and white or just one of these.
Actually you can now get wine coolers that are great for keeping both of these as they have a compartment for red and white and allow for seperate temperature settings. We will take a look at these wine fridges later but now lets look at why it is a good idea to keep your wine in a wine fridge or wine cooler.
To keep wine properly you need to have a good solid stable temperature of around 53 degrees F. If your wine is too cold it will do something they call freeze and this makes the wine contract. If it is stored in a place that is too hot it will expand and possible boil or stew.
When wine expands and contracts the chemical reactions that are occurring naturally in the wine. It also causes the cork to push its way out of the bottle and can let in small amounts of oxygen. Oxygen can also get into the wine when the cork is too dry and actually shrinks.
Corks can become dry if the humidity level in the wine storage area is not at an acceptable standard. Usually about 70% is the best level of humidity but anywhere between 50 and 80 % is ok. If you need to increase the humidity level in your wine cooler because it doesn’t t have a humidity tray then all you need to do is add a small plate with some water on it to the bottom of the wine fridge. This water will evaporate and increase the humidity level in the air.
When you are looking at different wine fridges and researching a few wine cooler reviews online keep an eye out for some wine coolers that have dual compartments. These are good for storing white and red at a drinking and storage temperature. Most of the wine cooler reviews online should feature these types of wine fridges. Make sure you look after your wine properly and most of all enjoy it.
