Keeping your wine in a wine cooler is very important if you want your wine to age properly. First lets have a look at why we need to keep wine correctly. Wine needs to be kept at a fairly constant temperature of about 58 degrees F if you want it to age correctly. If wine fluctuates in temperature too much it can go bad - the same goes for if you keep your wine at a temperature that is too cold or too hot. If your wine is being stored under cork - meaning that they have used cork to seal your wine, then you also need to be aware of the humidity level of the place so that your corks do not become dry and shrink. This can cause air to get inside the bottle and this will eventually ruin your wine.

Now lets have a look at the two main types of wine refrigerators that are available on the market.The first one is what is called a compressor driven unit. These fridges keep their temperature really well but can be a little noisy sometimes. Best to keep them in your garage or somewhere in your house that you don't mind a bit of noise.

The second is what is known as a thermoelectric fridge.

This style runs without a compressor to keep it cold but sometimes the temperature can vary up to ten degrees. They are very quiet and do not vibrate but are not great for storing white wine at a drinking temperature.

Whether you are an avid collector or just getting started it is a good idea to keep your wine properly in a wine fridge.
