Planning a prom is not an easy task. This is true especially when we take into consideration that it is very often planned by a committee consisting of school's students who do not have necessary experience in organizing such events. What is more, the stakes are pretty high as if something goes wrong the prom may be horrible or it may even not come to existence at all, which would definitely cause unpleasant comments from the rest of the school's students. Fortunately, much more important than experience is a proper organization. With a thorough planning and some discipline you and the committee you belong to will be able to organize a wonderful prom that will make up for all the hard work.
First of all, you have to be prepared for a hard work indeed. It is crucial for your success. Once the mindset is proper, the thing to begin with is a detailed plan of how are you going to organize the event logistically, including the division of roles and responsibilities. It is advisable that you create various sub-committees that would be responsible for specific aspects of a prom, such as music, food and beverages, or preparing a venue for the event. In this way no one will be overwhelmed with duties and responsibilities which is very often leads to a failure.
Once you have the plan you should now, at least in approximation, how much your prom is going to cost. This is the most important thing to establish as you have to begin fund-raising as soon as possible, even 8 months before the events if possible. Such a party is usually very expensive and you will not be able to patch a hole in your finances right on the spot. Remember, that money for a prom comes from two sources: fund-raising and tickets. You have to establish a reasonable price of a ticket, estimate how many tickets you are going to sell (which leads to another important thing which is to sell the tickets at least a month before the prom) and on the basis of that information you will be able to asses how high a monthly contribution from a single student should be.
Creating a spread-sheet of finances as detailed as that is a must if you want to keep track of your expenditures. Failing to do so may result in losing a certain amount of money or spending more than one actually has. That is why it is also helpful to create a separate bank account just for that specific purpose.
Your committee may also think about helping the participants of a prom in preparing for the event. You can allocate a small amount of collected money for catalogs with prom dresses 2012 or other help materials you can think of. Other students will definitely appreciate such initiative.
This guide may create an impression that preparations for a prom are easy but it is not. That is why early planning, including buying a prom dress, and not leaving everything for the last month before a prom is so essential for your success.
