They are a growth of a mixture of muscle tissues that are found in the wall of the uterus, womb and fibers of connective tissue. Its is a tumor which is non-cancerous.
About 25 percent of women above 35 years are likely to have this non-cancerous tumor. Although at times women in their twenties may develop them. It is common to have more than one type of fibroid.
General Symptoms are:
- Heavy bleeding - Excessively heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding can lead to an anemic condition
- Pelvic pain - Normally it is severe and occurs when the fibroid degenerates
- Pelvic discomfort - Women with a larger fibroid feel heaviness and pressure in their lower abdomen
- Bladder problems - Women feel the urge to urinate more times both day and night. They can also cause blockage of the bladder causing urine outflow problems
- Discomfort or pain during sex - It becomes painful to an extent that intercourse becomes unbearable
- Other symptoms are like - Low back pain, rectal pressure, prolonged periods and extreme cramps during menstrual cycle
Fibroid is as a result of several things like increase in the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Exposure to plastics, pesticides and herbicides. Eating red meat, consuming dairy products such as milk, hypertension and hormone replacement therapies.
The disease has side effects that include miscarriage, abnormal labor and postpartum hemorrhage. One should seek natural treatment and only undergo surgery when the tumor is exceedingly large.
The natural remedies involve:
- Exercising which is good for a woman's health
- One should use olive oil
- Avoid canned or preserved food
- Reduce consumption of fried meals
- Do not cook or warm food by use of microwave
- Eat fresh fruits
- Learn to eat unrefined food that has more fiber. This helps to get rid of excess estrogen
- Drink at least a full liter of water per day
- Avoid milk for it has estrogen. An increase in your body's estrogen triggers fibroid enlargement

- Abstain from beverages that contain caffeine such as tea and coffee

Tumors can grow either in the innermost layer of the uterus, in the middle layer, outer layer, within the cervical tissues and between the broad ligaments of the uterus. It is mostly not felt, neither is pain experienced till later. The only way to detect it is during medical check up. All women aware of these facts should take necessary precautions.
