After childbirth, besides thinking of what brand of diaper to use, mothers are most often concerned about what to do with the weight they have gained during pregnancy. Weight loss after pregnancy is not an easy task since on the average, women gains about 25 to 30 pounds of pregnancy weight. You were eating for two then, but after nine months eating for two is no longer an excuse. It is about time to shed off those pounds by eating the right kind of foods and getting back into your sexy figure.

With exercise, perseverance and commitment, weight loss after pregnancy is possible. Make sure that your body is ready for physical activities. Before engaging in any form of exercise, allow 2 to 3 months after delivery to let your uterus heal or better consult your doctor if you are already physically ready to start exercising. Bear in mind that weight loss after pregnancy does not happen overnight. It will take approximately 6 months to get to your pre- pregnancy body. Do not just think of the aesthetic value of losing weight, think of the health benefits that will be both beneficial to you and your newborn baby.

WEIGHT LOSS AFTER PREGNANCY

So why exercise? Here are some advantages of getting back into shape

• During and after exercise, studies prove that the body releases happy hormones called endorphins. Look good and feel good. Try light exercises; start slow in the treadmill and a stationary bike.

• Toning those belly fats is only achieved through proper abdominal exercises. You will now be able to wear your skinny jeans without spanx.

• Exercise can tone your muscle thus giving you more strength, which is needed when lifting your baby and when doing household chores.

WEIGHT LOSS AFTER PREGNANCY

Never ever resort to a crash diet, especially when you are breast feeding your baby. Remember to eat right because whatever food you put into your body is what you are feeding your little one. Have a well-balanced diet; here are a few must-eats:

• Energy giving foods such as whole wheat breads and pastas.

• Choose chicken breast and fish over meat, because white meats are easily digested by the body. Plus they are a good source of protein.

• Avoid sweets like ice creams and heavily frosted cakes; opt to eat sugar-free desserts.

• Eat fiber rich foods like fruits and vegetables; these will also make your skin glow. Or have a juicer at home to juice your favorite fruit and vegetable. Drink these juices after a tiring exercise.

• Low-fat dairy products, like yogurts have lesser calories and more calcium.

• Put less salt on your foods as sodium tends to store up more body fats.

Again weight loss after pregnancy is achievable, so don’t throw and give away your pre-pregnancy clothes, after trying these tips you will surely be surprised that you can wear these outfits again and bring back your gorgeous look.
