FACTS...
Fact, article writing requires facts, fast and explained. Details that catch the reader from the start, content of interest, and ambiguity needs avoiding. An article of four to five hundred words needs attention to detail in the shortest possible way. The facts be in the introduction, the opening paragraph explaining the title, short and to the point, the foundation to the article.
Action, the body of the article, the building, walls, windows, and the roof. This is where the reader must feel comfortable, safe and interested, where the imagination stimulated, to see how the article will come together in its complete form. The building blocks of the story, the article content, not finished but under construction.
Content, the most important author tool of the article, it must of necessity contain all the facts and figures, the recipe needs attention, the mixing will decide the final outcome. This is where the details expounded, your knowledge expressed, your audience captured and driven to express a comment. The proof of the pudding is here truly tested, the encouragement or determination of the reader to write their own article to express their own feelings, is here from boosted.
Tempo, the article being short and yet having to express, sometimes, so much, needs a tempo to which your reader's attracted. A beat like that in a song, instead of a foot tapping song, ones article needs a beat to which the reader can follow. An excitement to read on, something akin to the base drum of a band, a heart beating thump in the article will keep the reader in tune.
Summation, the ending, the wrapping around the theme, the slow letting down of the reader, is the last snag of the proverbial hook. This is what will encourage the audience to wish for more, to read the following article, to comment and to move on. Will they come back, to read another article, is the aim of the author.
The title of this article mentions blogs and other things, and for blogs it's a different story, unless you are writing or selling something. If you are merely blogging photos or posting for the fun of it, what does it matter? One is hoping others will look at the blog, and if they like it, to push the button, maybe even comment. But there are no hard and fast rules to this line, what ever you feel happy with is what you blog.
I blog with my vast library of photos which I have built up over the years, and continue to add to, do I concentrate on a perfect article? No, I post what I feel will meet a state of appreciation, and if it's not, it really does not matter, as one can't please everyone, tastes differ, and what is to me a good photo, mightn’t be seen the same by another. I recently entered a photo competition, with an adventure theme, undecided which photo to enter I sent in multiple photos, and left the adjudicators the decision. I ended with a photo in the top twelve, the winner has not yet been drawn, but the crux of the matter is, they chose the one I did not want to send, thinking it not good enough.
If you are writing for a blog or web site thats set up to sell an item, writing articles is a start, yet one needs to perfect the FACTS that you are imparting. Don't lose your potential customer with verbosity, precision is the key. I enjoy blogging, in that the pressure to perform is so much less, yet I have built up a big following and follow a lot myself. Enjoy your writing and develop your skills, but most of all recognise a good article by hitting the like button.
Fun format! I enjoyed. I'm glad you enjoy blogging! I'm getting mine going now. Your photos are amazing so I'm not surprised to read, "I blog with my vast library of photos" because your photos are so wonderful. Funny that the one you did not even want to send won a prize!! (but not surprising since they all are so stunning;)
