One thing that stands out quite a bit online is people trying to jump into internet marketing and struggle to see any results. A way around this is to start out where you get paid for writing articles for other successful internet marketers. You do this when you become a ghostwriter.
In reality, you can run this as a full time business. There is a huge demand for professional ghostwriting services. You can find all sorts of forums with discussions about internet marketing. The one thing that keeps popping up, and has done for years, is questions about hiring writers that will provide high quality content.
That's where you can move in and get paid for writing articles.
You can also learn in the process of writing those articles from the clients that are hiring your services. You can earn while you learn the ropes of what it is they do with the content you are are writing for them.
When you become a ghostwriter you aren't just going to be a writer. You are going to be involved in online marketing. Picking up key strategies from your clients along the way.
When you get paid for writing articles, the people that are hiring you are going to have ways to monetize that content. So in that respect you are getting a sort of "over the shoulder" approach to learning how online business works.
Well, your clients won't usually flat out tell you their full process as they are hiring your services. They aren't looking to coach people. They just need a quality article writing service that is going to help their business grow.
There are a few people that aren't so keen on outsourcing though. When they reach a stage in their business that they have few alternatives left but to start hiring freelance writers, they could want to provide training to you. This can be beneficial to some online businesses, if they are at that stage where they have too big a workload and have a need for a long term writer.
To fulfill their needs, it is possible that they will train their own writers. Some will start out by having some test projects created to test the skills of several writers and see first hand the results of their work.
If you can deliver high quality articles that make your clients a return on the investment that they are looking for in their freelancers, they are more than likely to come back with some repeat business.
So you always want to put your best foot forward for every client you take on. Simply because there is the chance that there are other factors at play. Such as seeking out long term business relationships.
It's when you impress your clients and deliver the work in a timely fashion and to their satisfaction, that you can build a long term business relationship where you can learn a lot, just through the discussions with your clients.
These are all just some of the things I am picking up while working through a ghostwriting cash review project I have on the go at the moment. It is certainly looking good and the ability to get paid for writing articles is definitely an opportunity not to be discounted.
A lot of people will be put off by the fact that you do have to work for every pay you want. It isn't the set and forget business model that a lot of marketers work up to. That is possible, but it takes a lot of learning and implementing to get profitable campaigns online.
The ones where you set a website up and then do the "rinse and repeat" stuff that I'm sure you've heard about, so far, in your internet marketing quest.
Possible but difficult and timely.
You will find that as your client roster grows, once you learn how to become a ghostwriter, you will be hired for various projects. It isn't always going to be on one subject or niche.
Successful online marketers can have hundreds of websites that they are in need of content for. Some will be for the site, some for traffic, some for free reports and others may even want their weekly newsletters ghostwritten for them as well.
There's a huge variety of things that marketers are in need of. So you aren't limited to just writing articles. You can write for money in a multitude of ways.
That's the beauty.
You can start out to get paid for writing articles, then expand your portfolio to get more business by covering a wide variety of writing services.
A good way to go would be just to listen to what your clients are asking about. If they aren't, you can always ask.
You can do that through having your own website.
Provide a page on your site, when you deliver your finished work you can have a link over to your main website where clients can request information or even quotes for projects they may be interested in hiring you for.
Besides...having a professional ghostwriting website is also going to let potential clients see that you know about website development. You can also showcase some of your sample work there too.
Not to mention the ability to obtain client testimonials.
Nice article Robbie, your style is open and informative; you get to the heart of the matter.
Hi Shawn. To get started freelancing, there's a few sites around. Elance is probably the largest one though. Just be careful of the likes of iWriter as they're really cheap and it can take you a while to earn a decent bit of money. You can also offer special offers for ghostwriting on forums which allow it, but the easiest way to get your foot in the door is a buy one get one free on fiverr. Don't do it until you have a way to sign people up to an email list though. Mail Chimp gives you a free one. It's easy to start with a good offer, (I done mine free) and made the mistake of not collecting the email sign-ups. If you're giving a quality service out free or discounted, then you at least want a way to get in touch with your clients in future to get repeat business. All the best with it Robert
Your article is right on point! I have written hundreds of articles for clients and through that work, I learned how to write for my own websites. Thanks for sharing!
Glad to hear it's working out for you Tonya. It beats the heck out of writing for others forever when you write for yourself and continually get paid, leading to more revenue and a scalable business. Don't get me wrong, I like to work with clients for the interaction, cos working online can sure get lonely at times. It helps to have folk you can talk business with through skype and things. A lot my clients often share a lot of tips about earning more online. Starting out, I put a lot of work into the orders I got from a free service offering to get the freelance writing off the ground and the tips I got from that really surprised me. Robert
